In 2022, we proudly launched our Powder Coating system at our Oshkosh location. Not only does powder coating deliver a premium finish that stands up to the rigors of heavy use in harsh environments, it also is better for the environment. As we recognize Earth Day on April 22, which has its roots right here in ACI’s home state of Wisconsin, where the holidaywas founded in 1970, check out some of the sustainability benefits over traditional liquid coatings.
Reduced Waste: Powder coatings generate less waste than liquid coatings. Unlike liquid coatings, powder coatings do not contain solvents, which means there is no need for solvent recovery or disposal. Additionally, any unused powder can be collected and reused, minimizing waste.
Lower Emissions: Powder coatings emit fewer volatile organic compounds (VOCs) than liquid coatings. VOCs are harmful to the environment and human health and can contribute to air pollution and the formation of smog.
Energy Efficient: Powder coatings require less energy to cure than liquid coatings. This is because powder coatings do not require drying time, which means they can be cured for shorter periods of time.
Durable: Powder coatings are highly durable and resistant to chipping, scratching, and fading. This means that coated products last longer, reducing the need for replacements and minimizing waste.
Recyclable: Powder coatings are easily recyclable. Unlike liquid coatings, which require more expensive and energy-intensive chemical processes to recycle, powder coatings can be easily removed and reused.
Overall, powder coatings are a more environmentally friendly option compared to other coatings. You can feel good about doing your part to promote sustainable practices.
